Hi, I`m

Ralf Griffiths

I’m Ralf, a Taekwondo instructor with a penchant for passionate and elaborate teaching. I’ll demonstrate, explain, and guide you step by step until we’re both satisfied with the results of your technique. Then I’ll happily show you tactics and tricks to make sure your fists and kicks connect!

Background

Ralf Griffiths has trained in ITF Taekwondo since the age of six and now some twenty years later is passionately teaching what he knows and the steps towards reaching that same level of skill. Originally from South Africa, Ralf’s Taekwondo career was in the traditional semi-militaristic style of fighting where technical knowledge, and the verbal capacity to explain such knowledge, was just as expected as the physical skill to execute them. Ralf achieved his 1st Dan black belt in 2011 and later his 2nd Dan in 2015. Since leaving for college Ralf has continued training outside of ITF Taekwondo with other striking styles and incorporated elements of these styles in his regular self-training and sparring.

As a teacher Ralf considers himself an understanding but perfectionistic instructor. Mistakes will always happen but Ralf will make sure you understand the mistake, learn from it, correct it, and continue on teaching with the satisfaction of his student’s improvement. Ralf is a fun-loving fighter just as eager to teach tricks and mind-games in fighting as he is to improve your technical skills. He is a proud advocate of the necessity of enjoying the sport to improve and that smiling after receiving a bad kick to the head can only serve as a positive tactical advantage in sparring, self-defence and competitions. Ralf also adores students who ask questions as a curious student, he finds, makes for a smart and skilled fighter.
