Sam Crouch
"I love the creative side of Jiu-Jitsu. My style is aggressive, technical and unpredictable, built around making people solve problems they have never seen before."
Background
Sam Crouch is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA coach joining Limitless Martial Arts Southampton with more than 13 years of grappling and martial arts experience. He began his journey under UCMMA Heavyweight Champion Denniston "Mad Max" Sutherland before continuing his development under Roger Gracie. Today, Sam trains under Colin Howells as part of the Vitor Shaolin BJJ team.
An avid traveller and yogi, Sam has spent over a decade exploring different grappling styles from around the world. His journey has taken him to Thailand and Malaysia, BJJ Globetrotters camps, seminars with some of the sport's most respected names, and even a period living in Greece to study Greco-Roman wrestling.
"We had a poster in the gym that said, 'Quit your job. Travel the world. Study martial arts.' So that is exactly what I did one day!"
Known for his aggressive and unorthodox style, Sam has built a reputation as the training partner everyone remembers. His game blends relentless pressure with creative lapel systems, Greco-Roman wrestling and techniques that most people simply do not encounter in everyday training. Whether it is Worm Guard, intricate lapel entanglements or unexpected transitions, he loves finding unusual solutions that keep opponents thinking, adapting and second guessing every exchange.
Although Sam enjoys the modern, creative side of Jiu-Jitsu, he believes the best game is one that reflects the individual. Every student has different strengths, attributes and personalities, and his coaching focuses on helping people discover a style that genuinely suits them.
Whether your goal is competition, self-defence or simply becoming a more technical grappler, Sam's aim is to help you think differently, embrace creativity and enjoy the endless puzzle that is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
"I do not want my students to copy my game. I want them to discover their own style and enjoy the process of becoming an absolute nightmare to roll with."
